Pilanesberg National Park exists in a transition zone between the dryness of the Kalahari and the wet Lowveld vegetation. Because of this there is an incredible variety of game animals as well as unique flora and fauna. Virtually all of the animal species native to South Africa can be found in this park including the big 5, wild dog, Roan, Tsessebe, Sable antelope and more than 360 species of bird.

A camping safari is a great way to explore the Pilanesberg National Park, head to the park and set up camp before heading out on a drive around the Pilanesberg Ring Complex to see what wildlife is lurking nearby and after tuck into a hearty lunch and spend some time relaxing before going on an afternoon drive into the park. In the evening dine under the stars with a traditional South African Braai (BBQ).
In the morning wake up early for coffee and rusks before heading into the park to catch the predators early before they rest up for the day as it becomes hot. Return to the camp at 10am for a healthy cooked breakfast. Spend the rest of the morning relaxing by the pool or watching the monkeys. In the afternoon head on another drive that runs into the night guided by a park ranger. This is a great opportunity to see some of the predators only active at night, then head back for dinner around the campfire.
After waking enjoy a guided nature walk where you can have encounters with bird and plains game such as zebra, impala, giraffe and warthog, as well as enjoying the bush itself. Afterwards depart on a game drive to see if you can get another look at some of the Big 5 animals roaming the park.
